Few months ago, I was listening to someone who was saying that Satan doesn’t exist nor do hell, yet I do not find this as the biggest deception about Satan. The biggest deception I have yet to witness, is when Christians makes him more powerful than he really is.

We blame satan for a whole lot and prays against satan for the things that would often be based on our poor timing, bad choices, poor judgment and poor planning. We don’t realize that we blame satan especially for the things that he has nothing to do with, we glorify him and proclaim him to be more powerful than he really is.

A brother was sharing with other brethren the difficulties he met on the way driving to church. He was saying that he was pulled over three times by three different officers and that he knew that it was the devil that was behind it all, trying to prevent him from receiving his blessing that day (he got blessed that day). When he was pulled over the first time he got a speeding ticket, the second time was due to his tail lights that wasn’t working (it was winter) and the third time, he got another speeding ticket. All this could go unexperienced for our brother that day if he would have had fixed the tail lights and if he wouldn’t have had driven beyond the speed limit.

As much as it is important to be aware of the existence forces of darkness, it’s as much important to be aware that the existence of natural reasons apply to us as well. We must be more careful on not giving satan glory especially for things he has nothing to do with.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able… -1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

I sometimes think we blame it all on satan because we don’t want to own up to our shortcomings. Don’t get me wrong I do believe that satan uses even the small situations we often neglect but to blame it all on him only so that we escape from the real issue, which is us, it’s  not right with God. For an example, it is easier to say at all times “Satan has come between us” than actually dealing with the issue of us not being willing to forgive, not be humble, love etc. For there’s a difference between an unforgiving heart and a heart that is not willing to forgive. For the will is controlled by men alone, even God does not interfere in our willingness. On the other hand an unforgiving heart is captivated by the forces of darkness.

Last not least, satan may not be the cause of why all the negative things started but he surely uses all the opportunities that the man creates for him.

Neither give place to the devil. – Ephesians 4:27 KJV

( The brother that got stopped by the police three times, it’s me 🙂 )
